I really wanted to like this vehicle. Unfortunately, it’s just comes off as half-baked. What do you think? This is my Driving Sports TV review of the new-for-2019 Ford Edge ST. - Ryan

You were surprised? It’s a midsize CUV, and not a platform known for it’s driving dynamics... Making it an ST is a half-assed attempt to keep the ST brand alive without a CAR to pin it on.

The interior is a shame.

I lost my optimism in Ford when they killed cars and replaced the Fiesta with the EcoSport. I loved my FieSTa, and I have deep respect for the power train engineering that went into our 2018 F150 2.7tt, but with only the Mustang left in the US market for performance they shot themselves in the kneecaps for everyday performance buyers. My $26,8 00 Hyundai Kona Limited gets better fuel economy, is as quick in a straight line , has almost as much road-holding grip , rides better, and is more willing to vector torque to the rear in cornering (leading to a decidedly neutral, bordering on tail-happy attitude). It’s brake s aren’t as good, it sounds just as depressing, and it’s smaller, but then again it doesn’t pretend to be so mething is not by having an N badge on the back and it cost less than half as much. Also, the Hyundai 7-speed DCT may not have paddle shifters, but in manual mode the response is nearly instant (though the shift logic still intrudes if you start to push hard and it won’t let you keep it near redline for long... Then again that 1.6t sounds abysmally bereft of charm at 6300rpm and has mostly run out of puff by 5500 anyway)
